Process
To create and improve the prototype of Time Clerk I used the help of the Design Thinking process. As I adapted this first prototype to my own personal needs and schedule I used myself as a persona and potential user. The next steps now would be to find out the needs of other potential users and to adjust the app so that it gains popularity and is used by larger target group.
Empathise
At the beginning of the process I started reflecting my daily routine. One of the things I realised was that I wasted a lot of time on Social Media and I couldn't really tell how much work i did as I normally distribute it and don't have a set routine. This often resulted in me being unsatisfied with myself at the end of the day.
Define
The insights I gained in the empathise phase helped me to define a problem statement. The dilemma was that I didn't keep track of my time so I couldn't tell how much of it I spent on Social Media and how much on being productive. I felt guilty because I had the feeling that I spent too much time doodling on my phone instead of working. That's why I asked myself the question: "How might I be able to track my time and make sure everything is in balance?". I then took this question to the ideate phase.
Ideate
Throughout the complete process I stuck to the idea of creating an app which helps to track your time. During the ideate phase I then started to collect ideas and define the features and the framework of the app. I also often came back to this phase whilst developing the prototype because I realised I hadn't completely thought through an idea or I missed a certain aspect.
Prototype
To create a prototype of my idea I used different tools such as Adobe XD, Illustrator and After Effects. I described how I used these tools in the Design section.
Test
Unfortunately I did't have a lot of time for this project so I didn't get to test the prototype. However the next steps would be to conduct a usability testing and to do some user research. These new insights can then be used to further improve the prototype.
